About the Institution

In 1991, a group of engineering surveyors who, being mostly involved with civil engineering projects recognized that the existing professional bodies continued to overlook the particular needs of the engineering surveyors even though there were a great increase in the size and numbers of civil engineering projects.

In March 1993, a number of senior fellow engineering surveyors saw the need of an Institution in Hong Kong to bring together surveyors of different grades in engineering industry to improve their standard and status in the Society.

The Hong Kong Institution of Engineering Surveyors was founded in 1995, the principle objective is the promotion and advancement of the professional status of Engineering Surveyors in the Engineering Industry.

The Institution organizes and sponsors functions, seminars, and various activities to promote the Continuing Professional Development of the members.

The Institution will also be co-operating with local institutions of higher learning to set up an Institution Examination as well as endeavoring to publish its own bilingual Institution Journal.

The activities of the Institution are managed by a Council of Management which consists of the following sub-committees.
